My name is Jacob Monisov.
I am 12 years old from Newton, Massachusetts. Coming from a family of immigrants from the USSR, my family has instilled in me the importance of a Jewish identity that I am very proud of. Due to my family's experiences, it makes me want to become a future Jewish leader and spread Jewish joy to others. I am passionate about traveling all around the world (in fact, “Around the World” is my bar mitzvah theme).
Since October 7th, my connection to the Jewish people has only grown stronger. As a family we are committed to using our voices and making a difference in any way we can. My parents volunteered in Israel, working on the farms in the South and we have participated in weekly community wide “Bring Them Home” rallies advocating for the release of all the hostages.
For my Bar Mitzvah, I have chosen Our People, an organization that connects my family's heritage (Soviet Jewry making aliyah to Israel) and the current immediate needs after October 7th to help Israeli boys celebrate their upcoming Bar Mitzvahs. Sadly, some of the boys have lost a relative, some have been evacuated from their homes, and many have a parent fighting on the front lines. It would be very hard for their families to plan a Bar Mitzvah, let alone a party. For my Bar Mitzvah, I would like to raise money for one or more of these amazing parties for a group of Israeli boys!
Our People will plan a party with everything you would expect - food, music, entertainment, gifts and a beautiful ceremony, making sure that each boy feels celebrated on his special day. I am hoping you can help me sponsor this celebration for these incredibly strong, resilient Jewish boys who are Israel’s future, to celebrate their incredible milestones.
Aim Israel Chai
Love Jacob Monisov
